Birthday Celebrations

Luke's and Kayla's birthdays are two days apart which always makes for a fun, busy week.  This year we decided to do family parties for both of them since their cousin and aunt were in town.  For Luke's birthday, we started the morning off with yummy Danish pancakes and then saw the movie Alpha and Omega.

At night we had BBQ for dinner followed by chocolate cupcakes some of which were topped with dinosaurs. . .Luke's favorite!  Luke had a great time. . .this was the first birthday where Luke really understood what was happening and he loved the attention!  On his birthday, we only let him open a couple presents and we saved the rest for Kayla's birthday.

For Kayla's birthday, we went to Chuck-E-Cheese to play games and then ate at Chick-fil-a!

Even though we were all pretty full from lunch, we went home and had an ice cream cake and opened presents.

Their favorite presents were their pillow pets but their BIG presents were hiding under a sheet. . .
A pink and white bike for Kayla and a red CARS bike for Luke.
You would have thought we had enough fun for one week with all the birthday activities, but two days later we spent the day at Carowind's water park.  Here is Kayla getting pummeled by water.

Gosh this was a fun week for everyone. And we seemed to roll in food and merriment; everyone happy; interesting things to do and go; and just hanging out with one another. Not often we girls get together...Two birthdays one day a part will really keep the festive spirit alive and well. Great photos, Molly.
