On Friday night, we took Kayla and Luke to the Matthews Carnival. 
Hunter was so excited to make Kayla's first carnival experience a great one. . . so we decided to spoil her and start the evening by getting "carnival food". . . we let Kayla pick what she wanted to eat . . . of course she ordered a corn dog and potato chips!!! Yummy!!!
Next it was time for the rides -Kayla's first ride was the helicopters that go up and down.
Luckily 
we found a nice girl that was willing to share a helicopter with her. . . she loved it. Next she rode the cars and then the carousel. While we were on the carousel, it started to pour - buckets of rain fell from the sky. We ran off the carousel and squeezed under the canopy of a food trailer, while Kayla danced and sang in the rain and mud puddles. She was in heaven. Unfortunately, our battery in our camera died so we didn't get any photos of our soaking wet, muddy daughter. As we were walking back to our car in the now drizzling rain, she said she was so happy and that the rain and the lights were her favorite parts!!! So much for the things we actually paid for. :-)
The best part of the night for me was that Luke slept the whole time!!!!

Tonight we read one of her favorite books, "Do Princesses Wear Hiking Boots". The book says that Princesses not only wear hiking boots, but they dance in mud puddles without refrain. She was quick to remember her mud puddle dance at the carnival and was so excited that she TRULY is a PRINCESS!!!! And of course, Luke is a Prince. I love watching Princess Kayla get so excited about things. . . and I love watching our Prince Luke grow up.

Oh that must have been such fun. You are definetely a better parent than me. I would have said no to the mud puddles. Go you!
