A couple weekends ago, Hunter and I went on a quick getaway to the mountains and went skiing! It was the first time I had been skiing in over 10 years and the first time skiing on the East Coast, where the snow is man made . . .hence the helmet you will see in the pictures below!
But we had a GREAT time! And it was a beautiful day for skiing -
the high for the day was around 50 degrees!
Hunter is already talking about teaching the kids how to ski next winter. . .
definitely a great place to learn as there were lots of bunny hills!
Last weekend, we were blessed with REAL SNOW in Charlotte. Last Saturday, we woke up to flurries and the kids were so excited, but they thought that was going to be it. But later that evening it snowed almost 2 inches - which is a lot for around here. It was too late to play in it, but since North Carolinians aren't use to driving on snow, church was canceled on Sunday - so we spent those three hours out in the snow before it melted later that day. I couldn't believe the kids lasted as long as they did, especially Kayla who didn't have any snow pants or boots to wear . . .but they were all smiles.
Early Saturday morning. . . excited about the flurries.
Saturday evening, the snow is starting to stick! Wahoo!
Sunday morning - "Oh ya, we are playing in snow!"
Sunday morning - "I can't stop smiling, I love the snow!"
Since we don't have any sleds or other snow toys, we improvised and got out our beach stuff . . .the boogie board made a great sled and the shovels made throwing snow at each other much faster than trying to form snowballs with the non-conforming snow. Here is the family have lots of fun:
The snow is now long gone. . . this weekend it is raining . . .not quite as fun. . .
but we are just glad we got snow this year that we could actually play in.

What fun and good job improvising! I haven't been skiing for a really long time either and I'm not sure how I'd do! I'm sure you guys had a great time!
Gosh can I feel the joy the Funny Bunnies are experiencing with their first BIG snow. They are full of such happy smiles!!! and to make shift for snow equipment is way too cool! Great photos with your camera.
Molly you look fantastic up on the ski hill...you could be a pro! So glad that you and Hunter were able to have a little get away.....
And yes, I do believe the kids would love to be skiing. Both are old enough....now to find the snow.
All the cold activities look like loads of fun!!!
