Taste of Thailand and More. . .

We just returned from our whirlwind trip through Thailand and Singapore.  We had a wonderful time - we couldn't have asked for a better trip!! The entire timeI kept feeling like we were living our own version of "Eat, Pray, Love." as we ate delicious food, admired beautiful temples, and fell in love with Asia.  So this is part 1 ("Eat") of three posts about our trip.   . .

The first day we went to Mr. Wong's in Chinatown. . . where they make their noodles by hand. . . it was amazing to watch and even more amazing to taste. .  .

The second day we flew to Thailand.  On our way to the beach resort in Hua Hin we stopped by the floating market.  As we made our way down the floating market, we tried a bunch of different things . . but the mango sticky rice was our favorite. .  .so of course we went back for seconds. . . .

By nightfall we were starving and found a restaurant on the water. . . as you can see we ate the sweet and sour fish down to the bones. . .

Instead of paying $300 for the hotel's valentine dinner, we hit the town again for some delicious curry dishes. . . we had such a wonderful evening with Mateo and Sarah. . .Hunter and I agreed this was our best valentine's day ever. . .

In Bangkok, we ate the best pad thai we've ever had and it was only a $1. . . can you believe it?  Bangkok streets are lined with food vendors as the majority of Bangkok residents eat all of their meals out.   I'll always remember Bangkok as the city of endless food.

While we were willing to taste most things, we could not bring ourselves to try any of the following . . .

Singapore embraces many cultures and thus you can find almost any type of cuisine. .  .so we had to try a dim sum restaurant, which serves small individual portions of Chinese food. . . which was a really fun experience as you get to try a bunch of different things. .  .

Even though we were stuffed from dim sum, we somehow managed to eat ice cream the Singapore way. . . instead of a cone, the ice cream is wrapped in bread or wafers. . .

We also ate the dish Singapore is most famous for. . . boiled chicked and rice.  . .it actually tastes a lot better than it sounds.  And it was fun to eat in a Hawker center, which is an outdoor food court filled with all different types of cuisine. . . from Korean BBQ. . . to Japanese. . . to Malaysian . .  .to Indian. . .

But we all agreed that Sushi Night was our absolute favorite. .  .we were all so giddy as we tried plate after plate of delicious, fresh sushi. . . the mango topped dragon roll and Salmon/Scallion carpaccio were to die for!!
