Well, surprise, surprise - Kayla is sick again!! But at least we had about a 10-day reprieve where we packed in a lot of fun. As always, when the Gicklings come into town - we end up eating and shopping a lot - ahh the life. We spent a few days shopping until we literally dropped. But I finally got a mirror for my dining room and a few cute clothes for summer. We also some got some real bargains for our kids on our yard-sale shopping day: tons of my little ponies, a child-size piano, and a lego table. But despite all of the new toys, Luke still likes to make his own fun.
Last Thursday, our house got really hopping when my dad (Papa Howard) flew into town to join in on the fun. On Good Friday, we went down to the Columbia Zoo and Botanical Gardens.
On Saturday, we started the day off at the town's Easter Egg Hunt, which a friend of mine did a great job organizing. Then we attended our friend's baptism, saw Hotel for Dogs (cute kids movie), and ended the evening eating dinner to the strummings of a live band at Blakeney.
Sunday morning, all of our guests had to go home - boo-hoo. :-(
But Kayla's frown quickly turned into a smile, when she saw the basket the Easter Bunny left for her and the pretty Easter dress mom bought for her for $10!
After church, we had our neighbors over for a yummy Easter dinner - Ham, potato casserole, rolls, beans, salad, and a cute bunny ice cream cake. But before dinner, we sent the kids out for an easter egg hunt - they had a ton of fun collecting eggs filled with stickers, toys, and candy! So nice to have such great neighbors.
We had such a great weekend, I was worried about Kayla having a major letdown. So, I decided to take her to Carowinds amusement park for a couple hours on Monday (we bought season passes and this was the first trip of many). It was so much fun as the park was empty due to the overcast skies. Kayla was able to ride all of the kid rides (usually completely by herself) within the two hours.
But of course, yesterday Kayla came down with a headache, soar throat, and fever. Back to life, back to reality!!

You cute Gickling Family, you surely know how to take fun photos. Luke in a frying pan is precious. Maybe he will grow up to be a chef! And Kayla looks like a lovely fairy in her spring finery.
Loves and hugs to all. Grammy Sharon
